Chianciano Terme is about 60 km south west of Siena, close to the western banks of Lake Trasimeno on the border of Umbria and is directly accessible by motorway and rail. The pleasant climate, fresh air and the fantastic location (close to Cortona, Montepulciano, Orvieto, Pienza and Lake Trasimeno) make it a great town to stay in or around. The town that sits at 550 metres above sea level is famous for its spas containing mineral water enriched with healing elements. The waters of Chianciano surface from five different types of springs: Acquasanta with a temperature of 33°C and is said to be beneficial if drunk for ailments regarding the gastrointestinal system; Acqua Santissima said to be healing for respiratory problems, Acqua Fucoli, a cold water also suitable for gastrointestinal problems; Acqua Sillene at a temperature of 38.5 °C which is effective for cardiovascular problems and finally ,Acqua Sant'Elena works as a diuretic in cases of kidney stones, metabolic disorders and urinary system problems.
