If you want to stay a couple of days as centrally as possible in Tuscany then Hotel La Vecchia Cartiera is the answer to your dreams. The hotel is located in the charming town that has surprisingly few visitors. Several restaurants and all kinds of shops are less than a minuteās walk away, and the unusually well-run bus station has fast and frequent services to both Siena and Florence.
The imposing building housing La Vecchia Cartiera dates back in part to the 1200s when it was a paper mill. It is obvious that the hotel is much later, probably from around the 1970s and the interior design is a bit patchy. Although the décor of the bedrooms leaves a bit to be desired they have air conditioning, mini bar and TV.

Half-board is available at the hotel restaurant for 20 euros a day (excl. drinks). But there are so many good restaurants in town that it would almost be a shame to eat in the same place several days running.
