Diecimo is located north of Lucca and is the first town encountered along the path towards the town of Garfagnana. It arose over a thousand years ago, on the right bank of the river Serchio, which runs between the north Tuscan mountains. There are several restaurants in the area and in the nearby town of Borgo a Mozzano (5 km).

Points of interest: The parish church of Santa Maria is a sacred place in the town. The church consists of three naves with a large semi-circular apse. Next to the church stands a bell tower that is inspired by prototypes from Lombardy and Lucca with murals from the 1800's.

Excursions: Today Diecimo is a small peaceful town that has the great advantage of being a short train ride away from Lucca. You can thus easily stay here without the need of a car. The town is also an ideal place for cycling in the surrounding beautiful countryside. f you have kids, you can take a daytrip to Collodi, where they can appreciate a visit to Pinocchio Park. Moreover, one should visit the famous local landmark - the Ponte della Maddalena which for many is better known as Ponte del Diavolo or Devil's Bridge. The bridge was built in 1046 - 1115 and unites the two banks of the river Serchio, just where Borgo di Mozzano is located.

Other destinations that we may recommend include trips to the coast of Viareggio, Pisa, Carrara with its marble quarry, the cultural city of Florence and the more neglected but beautiful city of Pistoia and nature reserve of Le Cinque Terre in southern Liguria.
