You will find yourself steeped in history at this imposing 14th Century manor house once owned by the influential Serristori family. The magnificent architecture will transport you back in time, and details such as the terracotta floors, ornate ceilings, the elegant loggia and an Italian garden of rare beauty all contribute to the house's grandeur. Once a privileged location for artists and philosophers, today Antica Taverna Casagrande is accessible to us all, and at reasonable prices.
It is rare to find a place that manages to combine the rural with the urban. You enter the house from the street in the charming town of Figline Val d'Arno, and once you pass through the house and into the garden, you could be in the countryside. There is a swimming pool, sauna and a gymnasium, and a beauty clinic in one of the wings of the manor. Courses in drawing, painting and pottery are regularly held here, as are wine tours. Parking is available on site and since it is only 700 metres to the train station from here, you can easily arrive by train. You can also take a train from here to Florence and Arezzo for day trips. The town has many attractive squares, quaint streets, shops and restaurants.
You have the choice here to swim inside in the heated indoor pool (Solar panels) which is open between May and September, or when the weather is good you might prefer to swim in the outdoor pool, which is set in the hills opposite the hotel (about 80 metres away, you have to cross a small road). The outdoor pool is also open to non-residents. You have free access to this as a resident but you must pay a fee for the use of sunbeds and pool towels, whilst non residents must pay in full for the use of the pool. So regardless of the weather, you can enjoy swimming here all year round.
The SPA is currently closed for the time being.

The beautifully designed ornamental gardens invite you to take a stroll and find a quiet moment in one if it's many manicured corners. If you want more fun and games you can take a walk to the outdoor swimming pool which is surrounded by green fields and also has a playground. Here you will also find a small bar serving light meals if you get hungry after a swim.
With regards to the restaurant, we should first and foremost emphasize the extraordinary atmosphere. It is housed in the old gun room where body armour and antique weapons adorn the walls. Secondly, wine is produced on the farm, and the comprehensive and fine wine list available should also be mentioned. Thirdly we recommend the soups (especially the Farro e Fagioli), and game (wonderful deer with juniper berry sauce), and wonderful pasta dishes. Lastly we must not forget the homemade desserts which will make anyone forget about their diet! The best part is that you can enjoy fine dining here at a reasonable price. Several of the farm's wines and their unique olive oil can also be purchased here - and again at quite reasonable prices, and it is even possible to have it sent to your home country. Please note that the restaurant is closed on Mondays.
The villa has 11 large apartments and 60 rooms that are very comfortable, spacious and furnished with great taste and elegance. They are scattered around the main building and in various annexes in a maze of beautiful old buildings.

You'll have the total feeling of relaxation and calmness at Villa Casagrande, especially by their great pool-area, in the Italian garden and at the terrace at the patio.
The villa has a long history, and it shows as you walk around underneath the vaulted ceilings at the different areas. The breakfast is enjoyed in the outdoor area during summer, and here you'll find beauty among flowers and statues. You'll find a nice restaurant as well, but it don't belong to the hotel. Here you can get lunch and dinner.
Excellent service, provided by the hotels staff and at the restaurant. They are always available and helps you with a big smile on their faces.
We stayed at this hotel for a week, but we would have liked to stay longer. The hotel is an old castle/farm, and the old style has been preserved. However, the place is still comfortable.
The is a pool both at the hotel and right across the road with an amazing view over the mountains.
Our reason for not giving 5 stars is that the breakfast had a lot left to be desired.
An exciting hotel, a special kind of experience as rooms, living room, etc. are very different. The hotel is an experience in itself. Good service, but the food was not particularly good.
We stayed at Hotel Villa Casa Grande and we were very pleased with the hotel. Very nice and quite location, with lovely surroundings. Very lovely rooms. Nice and kind service in the reception. The pool-area was great (even better if it was an outdoor pool), but ok with the sunbeds outside.
The breakfast was nothing special, some boring bread and was more like cake than breakfast. Very bad choice of fruits or something to put on the bread.
The outdoor pool nearby to use is quite good, but expensive to use as you have to pay for the entrance and sunbeds. It can be quite expensive if you do this for couple of days. And the toilets was not cleaned during our stay at the pool-area.
We 23-30 and 60 years old, have stayed at Hotel Villa Casagrande for a week. Reality exceeded our expectations. Fantastically charming place, both concerning the decor of the hotel and the kind staff. The location is ideal, because it's a great starting point to the sweet mountain towns, which lies like beads on a string in the area. The town itself was charming with good cafes and places to eat, which are used by both locals and tourists.
A stay on 48 hours before we went on.
A really nice and lovely hotel with charm and history. Is located in a really nice town with Italian charm. Can really be recommended.
