We got a big room on the 4th floor with two double four poster beds. The room worked nicely. The shower curtain could have been newer / cleaner. They could hire more people for maintenance, cleaning and dusting. This firstly goes for common spaces. The breakfast was completely OK, except for the fact that the coffee only were lukewarm. The hotel is nicely located in the old quarter of the city, with short distances to attractions. We were there in July and it was swarming with loud Americans everywhere, including the hotel. Do not expect that you can stream anything on the internet, but it could manage the paper. Very helpful staff , who helped us with bookings of cooking courses and other things. Park outside the main entrance, hand in the keys in the reception. The hotel has an arrangement with a garage not far away, who collects / delivers cars. Parking costs 22 euro per day. Private garages usually costs double. The food market isn't far away. A nice experience, but visit the place before rush hour starts at around eleven thirty.
36 degrees in the shade during the day meant, that we fled to the wine districts in the higher terrain until the evening came. Very nice to be able to cruise around in Greve in Chianti. Fantastic vineyards with wine tasting and "shops" with own produced goods. Florence has narrow and busy streets, where the wife never wanted to get behind the wheel. Personally I like that kind :). Not the city to visit for the summer holiday, if you are travelling with children. Then the towns around Lake Garda are a thousand times better.
