At La Burraia you stay in a perfect place for the must see excursions in Tuscany. It is located in the triangle between Pisa, Florence and Siena and from here, and in between them there are many exciting sights like the towers of San Gimignano, the Etruscan town of Volterra, the beautiful wine plantations along the Chiantigiana route SS222 and more.

Cool down and sunbathe in peaceful surroundings

You have the pool right outside the door, so you can swim and sunbathe while you overlook a lush green valley of 85,000 m² with Volterra's characteristic silhouette on the horizon. Spot the many different species of birds that come and go, and smell the fragrant scent of the flowers and fruit that change from week to week, until the fall, when the wine and olive harvest characterizes the air with heavier scents. La Burraia takes its name from the word for butter in Italian - burro, since the land really is as soft as butter!

Dine and shop in Gambassi Terme

You will find a bank, pharmacy, post office, a supermarket, restaurants and other shops in Gambassi Terme approx. 8 km away. If you drive in the opposite direction of the main road you come to San Gimignano (11 km), where you also have a beautiful historical centre with much to see. The two towns are quite different. You can find a good eatery in San Vivaldo monastery, about 7 km from the holiday apartments - it's called Osteria San Vivaldo and is recommended by local people and our own staff who have eaten there.

Enjoy a special microclimate

The farm is well protected from the north wind and yet open to the sea, so you will usually experience the cooling sea breezes blowing at night in the summer, which refreshes the air and makes the night comfortable (while the winter wind from the sea tends to warms the air).

Book your apartments with a private terrace

The family use one of the seven apartments and the other 6 are available for holiday lets. For many years Chiara worked as a receptionist at a larger vineyard in San Gimignano but then decided to start her own. The apartments all have a private terrace and an entrance from the garden, so you can choose to dine indoors in the living room or out on your private patio table. All apartments are equipped with satellite-TV, a grill, a safe deposit box and a kitchen with a microwave and refrigerator.
