Transportation As Lucca's historical centre is closed to traffic and otherwise difficult to find parking around the city walls (and inside the city walls) as Lucca is visited by thousands of tourists, we recommend our customers to take them on a much more stress-free and noncommittal way, namely with either train or bus.

Lucca Train Station is connected with a railway tracks to Pistoia, Aulla (and the track along the coast of Liguria), Viareggio, Pisa S. Rossore and Pisa Centrale. So you can choose to leave your car in one of these cities. Lucia Railway Station is located along Viale Camillo Benso Conte di Cavour at Piazzale Bettino Ricasoli just outside the city walls so it takes only a 10 minute walk into the historic centre.

When it is difficult to get to a train station from your resort, you can also benefit from taking the bus to Lucca . The company Vaibus is running between Florence and Lucca, Montecatini and Altopascio north of the Versiliana coast way to Carrara. But there are also bus services to Lucca from Pisa, Pesci, Pontedera, Bagni di Lucca and Camaiore just to mention some of the routes.

If you prefer to drive by car here, there is parking with a fee along the outside of the city walls in parallel ways and at Piazzale Ricasoli.

The following gates must also operate within the walls and park on the listed parking fee: Porta Elisa, Porta S. Jacopo, Porta S. Maria and Porta V. Emanuele . There are also large car parks outside the walls, which are connected to the centre by free buses by example Viale Carducci, Park Carducci with 440 parking spaces (from here you can even rent bicycles to get around) and Viale delle Tagliate, Park Palatucci, which also facilitates approximately 400 parking spaces. An hour parking typically costs 1 euro or more in and outside of Lucca.

Most temping would be to have a bike to get around, Lucca is an ideal city to cycle around in; the centre is closed to other traffic and you can drive up on the city walls and enjoy the view down the centre and to the surrounding, more modern town. Bicycles can be rented on a daily basis in several places in Lucca.

Have a good trip!
