The small and charming Marciano della Chiana offers all you could wish for in a Tuscan town. There are atmospheric cafés, a good restaurant, some shops and very few tourists, but it is VERY small!
The town has no more than about 3,000 inhabitants, so it doesn’t take long to see everything! There is a sweet little 18th century church and the remains of a once impressive castle. Marciano della Chiana may be lacking in the size and sights department, but it definitely makes up for it with its charm and atmosphere.
On the city's west side, you find main city gate, which passes through a fine old bell tower with a large clock and the Medici family crest. In the past, the castle has been at the centre of several disputes between Siena, Florence, Perugia and Arezzo since the Middle Ages, but now this small charming village quiet and peaceful.
Marciano della Chianas historic centre is a square shape, and is located 320 meters above sea level in the Chiana Valley, Valdichiana. It is adjacent to other small towns such as Monte San Savino, Lucignano and Foiano della Chiana.
