A scenic and peaceful place awaits you with an abundance of charm, great rooms, and really good food. The hosts are friendly and charismatic and if you are a cyclist, well you are in the right place for some serious hill training!
When you drive up here in the hills and mountains of Montecatini Terme you should expect to see more cyclists than motorists on many of the roads. This part of Tuscany is in fact known for its exceptionally good training possibilities, but make sure that you are at your peak fitness if you try it on a bike, because it's a steep climb up (750 meters high) but then it is not difficult to overtake cars on the way down.
Read more about Locanda Zacco
Locanda Zacco is best described as an inn and a very good one at that. It is situated next to the small road in a hamlet named Goraiolo and here you can see a model of the Italian's tradition of wanting to run up the hills and eat: There are not many houses in Goraiolo but within 100 metres of Locanda Zacco you will find both a pizzeria / bar and another restaurant. We have not tried them and we're not likely to do so, because when we visit we eat so well with Matteo and his mother Giovanna at Locanda Zacco, whether it's outside on the terrace or inside in the cosy dining rooms. Our point is, the food is excellent and the rooms are indescribably charming. The wine list is also great with very reasonable prices!
The inn's eight rooms are spread over the ground floor and the first floor. They are all really neat and far better than one might expect from a country inn. They even have a kettle with tea and coffee so you can make a cup in your room and enjoy it on the terrace.
Service minded hosts, sincerely kind. Tasteful decorations in picturesque style, and all of framed in green surroundings.
The place: The garden, with several cosy corners at the terrace, makes room for you to enjoy your drink comfortably. We didn't eat out here though, since the evenings a bit chilly in 800 m. ( 2625 ft) height in the end of September.
The restaurant is very authentic and charming, despite (or maybe thanks to) the impressive number of objects it has been decorated with.
The food is typical for the region: Rural in the best way possible, and plentiful.
The room, which is a bit small, offers a fine comfort, and above all a terrace, where you can enjoy the season's last rays of sunshine.
Everybody on the staff takes very good care of you.
