Just returned after a lovely family vacation in Montreverdi Marittimo, and tanned on the cheeks.
The place can be highly recommended, and we would like to return...

However it isn't possible to buy lunch at the place, which would have been a plus for us.

On our confirmation it says that we could check in from 4 - 7 pm. We arrive at around 4.15 and look forward to getting our apartment and relaxing in the pool with the kids. When then get told that our apartment isn't done and that it wont be ready before an hour later. At 6 I ask again and get met by an angry look and get told that it isn't ready yet. People need to check out at 10 and that means that there are 6 hours for cleaning. I get angry. We got our apartment at 7.15. Far from a good start to a holiday.
Besides the boring start it is a lovely place with lovely towns within a short range. Not a lot of tourists and that is great.

Piastroni lies in a big forest on a mountain about 450 m. above sea level. The service is top-notch and it is peaceful and kid friendly.
It isn't Tuscany like in Chianti Classico, since you live atop a small mountain in a big forest. There aren't a lot of open vineyards and olive groves in the neighbourhood. It is clean, nice, and calm and peaceful.
The area is well suited for biking tourists who want to drive in the mountains, or for families who want to have calm and lovely surroundings.
When you are going sight seeing in Pisa, Florence, Volterra, San Gimignano or Sienna, be prepared for some mountain driving, and then you will have to accept that it will take longer.
You are pretty solitary, and it can be felt on the internet speed, amongst other things, which isn't acceptable.

Piastronis' own restaurant measures up with some of the best food experiences we've ever had in Tuscany and Rome. A bit more expensive.

Lovely calm place. It lies a bit far out and you have to be prepared to drive a bit on small roads. We were there during a very hot period, and therefore it was pretty exhausting that we didn't have an air condition in our home. The residence is unfortunately built so it is hard to "be yourself" on the belonging terraces.

Recommendations for future guests

The homes are furnished with unusually large fridges, so you can calmly shop large amounts of groceries at a time, and bring them home.
Lovely area for biking, very few cars and many exciting, small roads.
They are currently building more homes which should ready for the summer of 2016, they look good, and I hope they have air conditioning.
