Back then Ortignano Raggiolo started receiving several residents that were far from happy. And that is exactly the reason that brought them here. Luca, who came here from the city, has reinvested his money in the renovation of several houses of the old village. He tells about people who were exiled or internment here. They were steady people who fought against the cold and poverty; though, they were also intelligent and had independent-mindsets to build their homes from wisdom and with good taste.

A quiet village

There is a narrow and steep road going from the main square, where you can arrive by car, down to the valley and around the village. Here you find a very appealing and cozy corner with a few cafes and a good restaurant with a rustic decor. This is the place where you would like to taste the traditional dishes based on seasonal products. The village has a museum of chestnut production and there are many dishes prepared with chestnuts, which picked tin he autumn .... So you can imagine it is worth coming here all year round.

Excursions in Casentino valley and Tuscany

Despite the lovely atmosphere in the village, we recommend you to explore the area, which offers both beautiful medieval towns, dating back to Etruscan times, and beautiful scenery.
In the Casentino valley, which is known for Pratomagno massif (1,592 m asl.) and its dense and lush forests, it is worth visiting Poppi with its imposing castle, Stia and Bibbiena's old center, Romena Borg and Camaldoli monastery not to forget. Furthermore you can easily reach Arezzo, Siena and Florence in approximately 1 hour drive.

An oasis with pool outside the city

Luca has planned it from the start of his project, in this village there should be an area to sunbathe, swim and get an ice cream or a cold beer. In the valley's most sunniest corner, he constructed a fine and large pool area surrounded by a wide sun terrace and grass level where you can just dream away. Another aspect that was important to him, is that guests should be able to pick fresh vegetables from the vegetable garden. In this way you can prepare your own Tuscan meal with fresh ecological products.
The pool is at about 800 meters walk from the center and you can get here along an old path that runs down.
If you have small children you can take the car and get here in 1 minute. His philosophy is that everyone should be able to experience the local live as it is lived here in the village.

Good apartments for families and couples

The apartments are all different, with the common denominator that all are renovated with care and love maintaining the traditional character. Luca has good reasons to be proud of all of them. They all have a high comfort level, what you probably did not experience a you have been exiled here. Air conditioning is not something you find in the apartments as it is not necessary with the thick walls and these heights (the village is 483 meters above sea level). All of them have wifi internet connection, satellite TV and prices includes, electricity, fire wood, water, bed linen and final cleaning.

It excludes, Heating consumption rate, laundromat and extra cleaning and bed linen.
Swimming pool open from 20/05 to 15/09
