Much fun can be had for all the family at the popular (and for good reason) Podere La Pieve Vecchia. The now completely restored farm buildings sit peacefully in the Tuscan hills with apartments and rooms for rent and a good restaurant.
From here it's possible to visit the town of Riparbella 4 km away and the sandy beaches at Cecina Mare just 7km away. It is also close enough to take a day trip to the more famous medieval towns of Tuscany if you have a car and can pry yourself away from this relaxing haven. The road between Cecina and Volterra passes close to the farm, so some traffic noise can be heard.

The small restaurant is cosy and here you can have dinner during the week and Saturday, and lunch on Sunday. You will get to taste the many authentic dishes that are prepared with as much local produce as possible. The menu often includes such favourites as pappa al pomodoro or baccalà alla Livornese. Other than that, during the days you can enjoy some time by the pool for adults and for children, and there is a reception, a playground, a tennis court, a communal BBQ, a laundry and you can even rent a mountain bike and explore the surrounding countryside. You'll find a few restaurants, a café and a few small shops in Riparbella. In Cecina there are several restaurants, bars, discos, a pharmacy, a market, etc.
Hotel room with breakfast / half board:
- All 4 rooms are located in the original barn, where there is also a small restaurant on the ground floor. The rooms are nicely furnished and include a TV, a telephone, a mini-bar, a safety deposit box, air conditioning (at extra) and a private bathroom. It is not possible to add an extra bed or cot in these rooms.
A very small catch at this place was, that one of the double room had a tendency to smell of the sewer a few times, not all the time, but very uncomfortable, when the smell was there.
