The I Borghi estate was once part of the historic estate of the noble family of the Carolingian counts so is steeped in history. The surrounding countryside is soothing and pretty and very typically Tuscan.
I Borghi is a charming house dating from the 1940's and is located in the village of Pancole. It was originally built for the Borghi family who owned the grocery store in the village. Today the house is divided into 5 apartments which share a swimming pool that gives the impression of being an infinity pool with flowing water on one side.

The apartments are tastefully furnished and have been restored with respect to the original features. They are equipped with air conditioning and all have a private terrace with a table and chairs. There is a private car park for guests, although parking on the street is also fine. NB - since the plot is on a sloping ground, it has both apartments on the street level and apartments in the garden on a lower ground floor.
Apartment Caffè is located on the ground floor facing the garden and consists of a living room with a sofa, kitchen (with dishwasher), a double bedroom and a bathroom with a shower and toilet. The apartment has air conditioning. From the living room you have access to the covered terrace, which looks out onto the garden.
Apartment Zenzero is located on the first floor and consists of a living room with a sofa, a dining kitchen (with dishwasher), a bedroom with a four poster bed and a balcony, a single bedroom and a bathroom with a bath and toilet. The apartment has air conditioning. From the living room you have access to the apartment's terrace which looks out onto the garden.
Apartment Tabacco is located on the ground floor facing the road and consists of living room with a sofa, a dining kitchen, a double bedroom, a bedroom with two single beds and a bathroom with a shower and a toilet. Apartment Cacao is located on the ground floor facing the road and consists of a living room with a sofa and fireplace, a dining kitchen (with dishwasher), a double bedroom, a bedroom with two single beds and a bathroom with a bath and toilet. Apartment Liquirizia is located on the ground floor facing the garden and consists of a living room with a sofa, a dining kitchen (with dishwasher), a double bedroom, a bedroom with two single beds and two bathrooms with a shower and toilet. The apartment has air conditioning. From the living room you have access to the apartment's terrace which looks out onto the garden.
The time of our stay was marked by the fact, that it was late in the season, so it was a very peaceful stay, where we largely had the place, including the pool, to ourselves. The apartment was really fine, despite the kitchen being very small. The description states that, the terrace is faced towards the garden, and that is correct, but it is a small terrace without any furniture. The real terrace with room for furniture is faced towards the street - it wasn't a problem though, since Pancole is a small, calm town with little traffic. We have been to Tuscany before and have seen most of the towns, but Certaldo Alto, which lies about 5 km away, was a very positive, new acquaintance. It is a very small, medieval town, located high up and with a cable railway from Certaldo. The service at the place were very friendly and accommodating.
All in all, we've been very pleased with our stay.

We stayed at I Borghi for 10 days - in a nice and big apartment for 2 adults.
If the kitchen was renovated and got equipped with a good bread-knife, then the apartment would have been a 5-stars apartment.
Lovely hosting, nice apartment.
The cleaning could have been better, also on the terrace.
The outside seats' comfort could easily have been raised with some cushions and chairs with adjustable backrest.
Vegetation / trees in front of the apartment could have been cleared / thinned out / removed, to give a view.
Air con stopped working, and didn't get fixed until 3 days later. We had to switch apartments the last 2 nights.
