La Selva is ancient. It is first mentioned in a document from 1293 as "La Selva del Lago" after the big lake that was close by. Towards the end of the 1700s the lake was drained and today it is a fertile plain, which is visible from the farm garden and the circular swimming pool, 12 m diameter.
La Selva lies on the outskirts of the woods, less than 5 km from the city walls of Siena. Today they breed horses on the old farm, and one of Siena's largest riding schools is within a distance of only 1 km. The farm is set well back from the road and there is no traffic noise, although strategically it is very well placed for visits to Siena.

The farm owns 25 hectares of woodland, and its location so close to the long range of mountains and hills called "La Montagnola" makes it an ideal place for those who want culture as well as opportunities for long walks.
