The small unknown town of Subbiano is situated in rolling countryside characterized by olive trees and vineyards. It lies by the river Arno which later runs great and powerful through Florence and Pisa, but here it is still relatively short of water. Despite the fact that you are only 14 km from the magnificent cultural town of Arezzo, everything here is most tranquil. This makes it a joy to walk around the small streets and enjoy the charming cafés, restaurants and shops.  There are a couple of nice churches, and 8 km outside the town the impressive neo gothic castle Castello di Valenzano is definitely worth a visit, not just because of its fine restaurant “La Principessa”, but also because of its quaint little 12th century Roman church.
