In the middle of the lovely medieval town of Volterra you find the 4-star hotel San Lino. It occupies a former convent from the 15th century, and the building served as such right up till 1982. It is amazing how much you get for your money here!
The hotel bedrooms are divided into standard on the first floor and superior on the second and third floors. Both room types have air conditioning, mini bar, telephone, satellite TV and en suite bathroom with hair dryer. The superior rooms are just better furnished and more stylish than the others, which, in the words of the owners, are closer to the simple way of life afforded by the old convent.

The swimming pool on the hotel roof terrace is available to hotel guests daily from sunrise to sunset (May to October) together with sun loungers and umbrellas. Drinks can be ordered in the hotel bar. The hotel garage is in an adjacent building, but free parking is also possible in several places outside the city wall, which runs just 300 m from the hotel.
The hotel has its own restaurant, "Le Monache", making it possible to order half-board when booking your stay. Volterra is a surprisingly overlooked gem in Tuscany. Some are of the opinion that it has far more charm and as much historic atmosphere as the nearby town of San Gimignano. Once you have felt the warm reception at the hotel and in the town's shops, restaurants and bars, you are likely to return.
