Recently restored and situated just outside the medieval town of Volterra, Villa Fraggina is set in an idyllic location perfect to enjoy the peace and beauty of the Tuscan countryside. On the ground floor  the villa offers open-plan living with dining and living room.  There is a separate, well equipped kitchen with gas hob, oven and dishwasher as well as toaster and electric kettle. There is a washing machine in the downstairs toilet. A spectacular stone staircase leads upstairs to two generous double bedrooms, one with en suite marble shower room, the other with beautifully designed independent shower room. Both  bedrooms have air conditioning and special anti-mosquito blinds.  The style of the villa is a nice combination of traditional Tuscan style outside and modern country chic inside with white walls, new contemporary furniture and every comfort. The villa features a large covered patio with table and chairs, spectacular views, and a stunning infinity pool with sun beds. The access to the villa is through 3 km of typical Tuscan narrow, winding roads which once familiarised with, become part of the experience. Despite it’s countryside location, it is a mere 7 minute drive to the local supermarket and ten minutes to the atmospheric walled town of Volterra.  It is within easy access of the beautiful cities of San Gimignano, Siena and Florence. Pisa airport is just over an hour away and Florence about 90 minutes.

Volterra's center is located about three kilometers from the house, however before you get to town, you will find restaurants and shops along the way. The city center is still mainly inhabited by many local residents, who are not disturbed by the many visitors who come here to admire the Etruscan trail, the Roman theater and the unique medieval buildings.

In the middle of nature

You have a 3 km long and narrow dirt road to drive to get to Villa Fraggina; the road is not suitable for sports cars and requires patience, and attention. However, it is all worthwhile when you are here and admire the view of the soft, sweet and yet steep hills around Volterra. The evergreen cypress and olive trees forms a central part of a landscape that changes color from day to day with vivid greens of spring, the strong yellow color in the summer months and in the autumn, all variants from brown to red.

Between the Tuscan tradition and modern styles

If you have previously enjoyed a holiday in a traditional Tuscan house, you probably noticed that usually the rooms are quite dark due to the small windows and dark brown woodwork in the ceiling. You will surprised when you open the door to Villa Fraggina. In addition to the stunning panorama, you will find here a bright house with wide doors, large arches and pleasant colors. Furniture's style is rich and modern in order to create a comfortable environment rather than the traditional, heavy arte povera (translated means literally "the poor workmanship"). So much light has been created by minimizing the sight of the interior staircase and by enlarging the height of the windows on the first floor. The house is not suitable for children under 5 years.

Infinity pool and dinners in the open air

Despite the house's attractive interior, you'll probably spend most of your time around the house either on the covered terrace or by the pool to enjoy the silence of nature. In the infinity swimming pool you will get the feeling of swimming in a sea or hills...perhaps? In the evening, when the crickets begin their concert, you can enjoy the terrace and dine with views of the countryside during the sunset

A dip in the local gastronomy

We suggest to try out your culinary art in the house's kitchen. In town you can buy local products from local butchers, bakers, fruit and vegetable shops or in supermarkets (4 km from vilalen) and subsequently impress your fellow travelers with local recipes. Pour a little of the local olive oil on the vegetables or your favorite pasta just before you serve it, then you will experience how it enhances the flavor to almost magically. Do not miss an evening on the square or in the park of Volterra, as the town is full of atmosphere, charm and cozy places to eat and drink.
