If you are new to Italy and are seeking a romantic and authentic experience, then you have come to the right place. Let’s start with the hotel. Warm and authentic are adjectives that easily come to mind, and you are sure to find it charismatic and comfortable too.
The hotel is housed in a beautiful villa dating from the early 1900's, which has been renovated and refurbished as a three-star hotel. Many of the original features have been retained, including high ceilings in the common areas, original wooden beams in many rooms and original staircases leading up to the rooms. The atmosphere is wanting for nothing, both indoors and outdoors, and we especially recommend this hotel for couples who are looking for an authentic, relaxing atmosphere that can only be found in such provincial towns.

If you have had a busy day sightseeing, you don't have to venture too far for dinner! In-fact the hotel has its own restaurant called the ‘Antica Piazzetta’ with an entrance on the other side of the hotel with seating inside and out. The restaurant has a wonderful terrace on the lake shore so you can dine outside in the warmer months and enjoy a wonderful view of the lake, what could be more romantic? You can taste some wonderful local flavours with local specialities and Italian favourites including meat and fish dishes. There are also seats on the piazza side so you can enjoy a cool drink in the shade whilst watching the locals gather to chat and exchange pleasantries.
To stay at the Miralago, either for holidays or for short stays, is to be immersed in an atmosphere of times past. The historic centre of Castiglione del Lago has just three streets, three entrance gates and three squares, and is entirely enclosed within its medieval walls and dominated by the fortress and the sixteenth century Ducal Palace, giving it a cosy feel. You can wander the cobbled streets and find cosy corners with cafes and interesting shops selling local produce. The hotel sits on the main piazza and is at the centre of things, it also has the best views of the lake.
Lake Trasimeno is Italy's fourth largest lake and it has had an interesting history. You will be enchanted with the wonderful towns around the lake and also the islands within the lake! You can take a tour around the lake and visit some fascinating hilltop towns and hamlets such as Paciano, Città della Pieve and Magione and ancient fishing villages such as Passignano sul Trasimeno. You can take a boat trip to explore two of the islands in the lake (one is privately owned) and discover a rich history through the remains of ancient monasteries and churches, and you will also find lush forests and beautiful beaches. Castiglione is actually near the borders of Tuscany so you can just as easily see a bit of Tuscany as well as Umbria if you are feeling adventurous.
There is a reception, a breakfast room and a common room at the hotel. The hotel restaurant with its outdoor terrace has an entrance on the other side of the hotel. Whilst the rooms have retained many of their original features, they are equipped with essential modern comforts. All rooms are generally very spacious and they all have air conditioning, a telephone, satellite TV and a private bathroom with a toilet and shower or bath and a hairdryer. Most of the rooms overlook the Lake and the remaining overlook the piazza and old town.
