It is perched on a tall two-crested hill overlooking the east bank of the river Tiber, commanding distant views in every direction.
Its position on the hillside means that it has not seen much expansion over the past several centuries. It has been well preserved though and many of the old surrounding city walls are still standing. You can find one of the most perfectly designed medieval town squares in Piazza del Popolo. Piazza del Popolo is so beautiful and unspoilt that it has been used as a backdrop for countless films over the decades, including Cleopatra starring Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor. The Todi Festival is the culmination of all that the city has to offer both culturally and artistically, and attracts visitors from all over the world.
