Less than 10 miles away from the pottery town of Deruta, Torgiano has approx. 5,700 inhabitants and is most famous for its wines - especially the wine Torgiano Rosso Riserva, which is adorned with the highest quality labelling for DOCG (Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita).
A number of artists gather here every August the annual event "Appuntamento con in vinarelli", where artists use wine instead of water to dip their brushes in when painting as a tribute to the area's wines. Others will probably just make do with drinking wine, which also has great potential for the city's bars and restaurants.

If you want to delve further into wine, you can visit the city's Wine Museum - recognized throughout Italy - and there is also a quite excellent Olive Oil Museum.
