Agriturismo Nestore is missing charm

Nestore is like avarange standard, and it is not all the houses with are good for a holiday. The environment around is a bit industrial. When we were there they were working and therefore they had to turn on the machines and the noise continued the whole day... We went home before we needed cause of this.

Umbertide as a holiday destination

A couple of the cities in the area are fantastic like Gubbio, Citta di Castello and Sansepolcro and a bit futher Perugia.

Relaxing and lovely atmosphere

The area with big trees is complete pleasure after a visit at the pool. The make super italian food - one menu - which you have to remember to sign up to the day before. When somebody is in the kitchen department then it is possible to get coffee, wine, newly made eggs and the opportunity to get your own tomatoes and herbs in the garden.

Its clean! And the only dirt you see is your own. Its a great place

Hospitality out of the ordinary

We have had 14 fantastic days at Agriturismo Nestore. the place is beautiful, very well-kept and the apartment (Blu) was clean, spacious and with a lovely roof terrace facing east. Every morning we had breakfast in the garden, where we were spoiled by Marionella with omelette, tomatoes, Prosciutto, juice and pastries. Even though she didn't spoke a word of English, we didn't doubt her courtesy and hospitality for a moment. We can only highly recommend eating breakfast there every day - it's worth every euro! The morning our daughter turned 8, Marionella surprised us at breakfast. She had spend the morning baking a pretty Victoria sponge cake with a candle shaped like an 8, and when she carried it to the table, she was bursting with pride. We have, through the entire stay, been overwhelmed by their kindness and generosity.
We had dinner several times at Nestore, and it was lovely, traditional, local food. The place is self-sufficient, so there's no doubt of the ingredients freshness, and this can be tasted. Again, we can highly recommend having dinner at the place. In addition, we had dinner several times at Da Mimma, the restaurant in the pink house at the main road, right before you're turning towards Nestore. They make good pizzas - the children's favourite was Pizza Bavarese (Pizza with chips and sausages :-)).

And then a couple of minor challenges:
You could use a kettle to make coffee/tea.
You could use an oven.
You could use a dishwasher.

Umbertide as a holiday destination

First and foremost, avoid driving through Northern Italy on a Saturday!
Especially A14 from Brenner to Verona through the Dolomites is a bottleneck. The traffic moves at a snail's pace from tailback to tailback.

Agriturismo Nestore is very flexible. Talk to them about arriving on a weekday instead of a weekend. It can definitely be arranged.

Next, be aware of the fact that Umbria is relatively isolated by big hills/mountains. Except for a few local excursion spots, you have to count on quite a bit of driving in the mountains, and of this longer travel time than what the GPS might estimate.

We can highly recommend a trip to Assisi, which is beautiful and evocative. The town is a beautiful monument of Saint Francis, the founder of Franciscans. Basilica di San Francesco is one Catholicism's holiest places, and is a pilgrim destination for all Franciscan monks. The basilica in three floors (when's the last time you saw that?), and while you're at the top floor, you'll find frescoes by Giotto, and in the basement you'll find Saint Francis' tomb.

Furthermore you shouldn't cheat yourself for a trip to the less overrun town Gubbio, which is a incredibly well-preserved medieval town. There's possibilities for "train trips" (40 min.) through the town to the biggest sights, as well as an opportunity for a trip with a cable car to the church at the top.

Perugia is a busy city, where the traffic can be quite bothersome in the middle of the city. Instead, take a mountain trip to beautiful Cortona, with it's restaurants and nice shops, which, amongst other things, sell wine, leather bags and paintings of different quality. The town is traffic-free, and there's always a lot of life on the squares and in the small streets.

If you want to shop, a trip to Valdichiana Outlet Village, which is located about an hour's drive from Nestore, is recommendable. A classic outlet with the most famous brands, restaurants and a big playground for the children.

The WiFi at the place was both quick and stable the first 12 days. After that, it stopped working. We never found out, what happened, but it probably just had to be restarted.
Swimming pool (can be open in season only)

Minimum water dept around 1,2 m. Our youngest daughter just couldn't reach the bottom. Aw. Besides, the pool could use some more chlorine.

Lovely stay at Nestore

We are a family of four with two large teenage children who have enjoyed our spacious apartment at Blu Nestore.
We have appreciated the calm that has been though all the apartments have been fully occupied during the period we were there. Overall, the framework was ideal and we enjoyed the pool, which was wonderful in the heat. The buildings are characterized by careful restoration and beautiful landscaping.
We ate at the on-site restaurant 2 of the 3 times that they were cooking. Incredibly well cooked local produce.

The only thing we lacked was English speaking staff. We need some information about the site's history, local tips and so on. This could be met with a folder in each apartment, which Nestore could have made. Alternatively, the young man who helped serving one night, be there on Saturday for dinner and make a kind of info meeting. He spoke English

We can recommend the place to others, and will gladly come again :-)

Recommendations for future guests

Due. heat we took only for trips in the near vicinity.

Citta di Castello- where you both can shop and enjoy the beautiful buildings within the city walls. Montone and Gubbio, both cities with beautiful location. Perugia is definitely worth a visit. We were there on a rainy afternoon, but if we were to come back, it was to walk the walk on the city wall.

We chose to run the slightly longer trip to the Frasassi Caves. It was an impressive experience to get the guided tour around the countryside between stalactites and malakitter.

Assisi; Be there early! We were there just over nine in the morning and had it all pretty much to ourselves the first hour. It was a big experience !

On the last night, we ate at the restaurant in the red house, just before turning up to Nestore, Da Minna. We got really good pizzas, and found out that it was the place where the locals came and ate. We looked long after the dishes that were carried into the tables. There we had like eating several times.

FANTASTIC!!!

Nestore was just an amazing experience for us! The place have a wonderful and charming atmosphere. We got to see to other apartment than the original we have booked from home, so we could choose which one of the apartments we would stay in. The one we took was a bigger than the original and for the same price!!
La Signora was a wonderful and kind hostess and cook some great local food, that you don't want to miss.
